1. Installation problem
For now we support only 32bit systems: Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista (all versions), Windows 7 (all versions).
Correct installation should look like this:
- RiccoVPN installer at first will check if .NET Extended Profile is installed on system. If not Windows will display info with link to Microsoft .NET download website. After .NET installation run RiccoVPN installer again.
- Windows pending on it’s update status may ask for permission to install driver (up to date Windows does not), allow it – it’s digitally signed by VeriSign certificate and safe.
- after RiccoVPN installation is complete, run program and it will show current PC status. Now go to demo.privacyprotector.eu – that is how your PC is visible on the Internet. Hit “connect” in RiccoVPN and refresh website – see any difference?
- Updates are automatic and we highly recommend update to latest version available.
If program shows error, that means PrivacyProtector Driver is not installed properly. Uninstall RiccoVPN and PrivacyProtector Driver if present in “Add/Remove Programs” in Control Panel and afterwards check if in C:\ProgramData (Vista & Win7) and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ (Windows XP) folder “IPProtector” is present; remove it if so. Folders are hidden, You have to set “Show hidden folders and files” in folder view options.
After following this instructions install RiccoVPN again. If at first attempt of PLUS code was accepted You will not need it again. If this will not work, don’t fight it alone, write us about it: support(at)privacyprotector.eu , and describe the problem, we will try to fix it for you.
2. What’s the deal with the code?
- FREE version of RiccoVPN is free for use without(!) time or data quota limitations, however Internet access is limited to 512kbps and advanced features are not available. If You wish to lift all limitations and get extra IP features upgrade to PLUS by clicking on “get a code” link in RiccoVPN on the bottom; it will take you to our purchase page where PLUS code can be purchased via PayPal or SMS.
- After code is used correctly notification will be displayed in status window. Program will update automatically.
3. It doesn’t work! Now what?!
RiccoVPN right after start is not active, must get access to our Privacy Network. Check if RiccoVPN is online, by visiting our DEMO page. If you can’t click “Connect” button most likely Internet service is not available; Privacy Protector is a online service after all. Below on task-bar next to clock right click Privacy Protector shield, it’s color shows status: RED – disconnected, YELLOW – user attention required, GREEN – online.
4. How do I know it’s working?
Privacy Protector service grants you privacy on Internet, first of all free IP address protection. It’s easy to link your IP with your home address, so you can check in our Privacy Scanner on scanner.privacyprotector.eu how much personal info you give away. After scan turn RiccoVPN on and when it’s connected and green re-test your privacy: go to demo.privacyprotector.eu and refresh it with RiccoVPN OFF and then ON. Not bad, huh? Note that we change your temporary IP every time you use it. Don’t take our work for it; try to locate your IP by any tool you find.
5. Because of you my own program doesn’t work online!
Our software DOES NOT require any dedicated software like web browser or file downloader, or any network configuration whatsoever. You do not need to change anything in your online apps, our software is invisible and works seamlessly. If you want to make sure try to disable RiccoVPN from network by clicking “disconnect” or shut down entire program and check if your software is online now. If it doesn’t it means our software is not a problem. Best write us about your problem at support(at)privacyprotector.eu and we will try to help you.
6. Internet is slower now..?
Please keep in mind network is dynamic and connecting through several countries on-the-fly most likely will be slower than Your normal Internet speed. However bigger the network, faster it gets. We are continously working on our algorithms to make our network faster and more reliable.
